Get to know Edwin
Edwin is the CEO and co-owner of TransHeroes, together with Kirsten. He has been active in the logistics industry since 2005 and has become an indispensable part of the company. What started with learning the ins and outs of freight forwarding has grown into building a modern logistics service provider for SMEs doing business internationally. On a daily basis, Edwin focuses on strategy, growth, customers, digitalisation and the further development of TransHeroes. Always with the same goal: making logistics smarter, more personal and easier to manage.
What do you enjoy most about your work?

What I enjoy most about my work is the combination of entrepreneurship, people and logistics. No two days are the same. One day I'm dealing with a customer enquiry or a complex logistics solution, and the next I'm focusing on growth, digitalisation, a potential acquisition or the future of our company. I get energy from building things: building TransHeroes, developing our team and finding ways to serve our customers even better. Logistics may seem simple sometimes — something needs to get from A to B — but it's precisely the complexity behind it that makes this industry so interesting.
How would your colleagues describe you?
My colleagues would probably describe me as committed, direct, entrepreneurial and sometimes a little impatient. I value clarity, efficiency and taking responsibility. At the same time, I think it's important that people feel comfortable within the company and that we work together to build something we can be proud of. I can be critical, but always with the intention of making things better. Standing still just isn't really my thing.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with Kirsten and our two sons. There's always something going on at home, and we're usually working on a new idea, project or plan. I'm also involved in several business clubs, where, besides exchanging ideas about entrepreneurship, there's always plenty of fun and good company. I also have a great passion for cars, which explains our orange Mustang parked outside… I'm not very good at sitting still, but that's exactly what gives me energy.
What's something people might not know about you?
What people might not know is that I only got my truck driving licence after more than twenty years in logistics… Not because I suddenly want to become a truck driver, but because I really want to understand the industry. When you talk about transport every day, it's great to experience what it's actually like to be behind the wheel of a truck. And to be fair, with my love for anything on wheels, it suits me perfectly. Secretly, I think it would be amazing to spend a few days a month driving a truck.
